Frequently Asked Questions about Our Services
Should I see one or both of you?
We really enjoy working together,
and we believe our own synergy offers something unique among the many
available healing modalities. Even so, it is an added expense, and may
not be what everyone needs. We recommend you start with an initial session
with one of us, and let us guide you if we think you would be best served
by seeing both of us together. This saves you money and facilitates scheduling. |
How do I choose which of you to see?
Whichever one of us you see will surely be the right choice.
How does your healing work compare to psychotherapy? |
We wish to be absolutely clear that our healing work is NOT psychotherapy. While we consider many of the same factors, our healing work is intended to address pain in the body and the spirit, and providing healing in those areas undoubtedly affects the mind as well. If we feel that you would be best served by a relationship with a therapist (or, for that matter, a physician or a helaer working in some other modality) we will not hesitate to refer you to other resources, whether in conjunction with our healing activities or in place of them..
I understand that Debra is an M.D. Will she be prescribing medication as part of the treatment?
Although Debra is also a board-certified psychiatrist, and actively practices in Taos as a staff clinician and Medical Director of Tri-County Community Services (formerly Taos/Colfax Mental Health Center), our healing work is not medical treatment. Any actions taken by either of us in the healing practice, including the recommendation to seek medical attention, are the result of our experience as healers and are not represented in any way as medical practice nor as medical advice.
How soon can I get in to see one of you?
Although we have been doing this work for several years, our formal practice is relatively new. We'll probably be able to see you within a few days of the day you call.
